Jon McLeod is a native of Akron, Ohio. After graduation, he joined the US Air Force and in 1986 was stationed in NW Florida at Eglin Air Force Base’s 33rd Tactical Fighter Wing. He served as an F-15 Fighter Aircraft Crew Chief. Following his military term, he was recruited by Trans World Airlines. Jon moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he was employed as an Aircraft Mechanic at TWA. They subsequently relocated to Portland, Oregon where Jon worked as a Field Training Instructor for TRM Copy Centers, a national supplier of business systems.
In 1996 Jon returned to the Destin area after missing the warm climate that the area offers.
Before joining the Grand Shores team, Jon spent the previous seven years working with a local timeshare resort operation as Director of Maintenance and Engineering. He managed the maintenance and engineering operations for three resort properties in the Destin area.
Jon brings with him a wealth of technical knowledge relating to high-rise buildings. He holds numerous training certifications including: CPO Pool Operators Certificate, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Targeted Selection Interview Training, CPR and First Aid Training, M.A.G.I.C. Exceptional Customer Service, and an EPA air conditioning certification. Jon is also experienced in preparing and managing operational and reserve budgets, preparing work plans and schedules, and negotiating contracts with vendors to achieve cost-effective pricing.
Jon believes in a management style called FISH which is derived from the world famous Pikes Place Fish Market in Seattle. The four principles of FISH are; Be There, Have Fun, Make Their Day and Choose Your Attitude
